What is cremation like?

Cremation is a process that uses intense heat to turn the remains of your loved ones into ashes. This takes place in a specially designed furnace called a retort or chamber. It can be difficult for some people because they may have strong feelings about death but funeral directors say there are ways of making this easier by turning our ceremony into an event with singing and laughter as well as telling stories before we go ahead with the fire ritual itself.

How is a body cremated?

The process of cremation begins with the body being prepared for transport. The container in which it is placed will be moved to a retort or chamber where all that remains after cremation are metal and ash, both removed from the site. Grinding these into fine particles creates what we know as “ash”- so urns provided by family can be used now!

What is the cheapest way of cremation?

The cheapest way to be cremated is direct cremation. The process involves little more than your body being brought into a facility where they will place you in an electric oven and reduce it down to ashes until there's nothing left of the person who died--no casket, no funeral service, or transportation costs necessary thanks to this option!

Not all providers can make the same promises to you about the treatment and verification of your loved one. Please click here to learn more about the Twelve Questions to Ask About Cremation to ensure you have a provider you are comfortable with.

  • Highest Standards - Our family philosophy is to set standards for every aspect of cremation that exceeds the State requirements as well as those of other cremation providers.
  • Our Crematories - We own and operate our own crematories located at our Glenpool and Okmulgee facilities for the exclusive use of the families we serve.
  • In Our Care - Once your loved one is in our care, they remain safely at our facility until the urn is returned to you or brought to the ceremony location.
  • Peace of Mind - We require all of our families to provide a recent, color photograph for a positive means of identification of their loved one. Two of our staff members will positively identify your loved one prior to cremation.
  • Quality Assurance - We have a checklist of 50 line items to which we adhere before, during, and after the cremation process, to ensure the quality and care of every family we serve.
