William Lee Love was born on November 22, 1948 to the late Sallie Mae and James Rufus Love.
William grew up in adversity, but he did not let it defeat him. He learned the tough labor of farm work and the steady patience of breaking in horses. From baling hay to pumping gas in town, he grew up to be a reliable and hard working person. He met his wife, Deborah, at a very young age and they stuck together like glue.
On August 13, 1967, William married his childhood sweetheart, Deborah, in Allendale, South Carolina. A year after their marriage William enlisted in the United States Army. During his service he aided with the Vietnam War and did several tours in both Korea and Germany. He was also a Drill Sergeant who worked hard to teach recruits to be tough, calculating, and to protect their brothers and sisters in arms. By the time of his retirement, after 27 years of service, he had achieved the rank of First Sergeant. William was very patriotic and his love for the United States was easily recognized by a flag or eagle on his shirt or a ball cap with words "Army Veteran."
In his spare time William enjoyed fixing old cars, and on one occasion, he made it into the newspaper, proudly standing next to his 1963 Chevy truck. He enjoyed dancing at any chance he got and playing football or other games with his grandchildren. William was considerate and overflowing with love, never meeting a stranger and always ready to help when someone needed it.
In recent years he and Deborah bought a motorhome and began their journey around the United States, creating wonderful memories and life long friendships. Although William loved many things, no object or place could take an ounce of love away from his wife, his children, his grandchildren, close friends, or even a stranger walking by. It was in his nature to care for and protect those in his life.
William is preceded in passing by his parents, Sallie Mae and James Rufus Love, and siblings Grable, Eileen, J.C., Rufus, Gordon, and Verdie Mae Love, as well as his most beloved dog, Baby.
William leaves behind the love of his life, Deborah, as well as his daughters, Karen Denise Love and spouse John Wood, Cheryl Lowry and spouse Bobby Lowry as well as his brother James Love and spouse. Also left in the wake of his absence are his grandchildren Heather Lowry, Lauren Rogers and spouse Ryan Rogers, Haile Wood, Kyle Calibani, Kevin Calibani, JD Wood II, Cole Lowry, and Kaylee Lowry and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and so many friends.
