William Edgar Smothers

William Edgar (Bill) Smothers Jr., 93, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on March 1st, 2022 after living a long and fulfilled life.

Bill was born on July 9th, 1928 to W.E. and Lena Smothers in Shawnee, OK. After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1946, he went on to study commerce at Oklahoma State University.

After graduation he served in the U.S. Army for 4 years.
He wed the love of his life, Marilyn (Cales) Smothers in September 1952. They had 2 children, Bill and Susan.

Bill retired as the treasurer of Seismograph Service Corporation after a 30+ year career.
After retirement Bill was able to enjoy his passion for flying his Cessna Piper airplane, expanding his collection of movies, music, video games and all the newest gadgets, listening to music and playing his piano/keyboard and attending Oklahoma State University athletic events as a season ticket holder in football, basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was loyal and true to OSU.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Lena, and son Bill. He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Marilyn of Tulsa; daughter: Susan Counts and husband Phil of Coweta; daughter in law: Barbara Smothers of Glenpool; Grandchildren: Eric Smothers and wife Holly of Oklahoma City, Jeff Smothers and Casey Harper of Bixby, Ashley Wilkins and great grandchildren Jacob and Tristan of Broken Arrow.
