William Dewey Pence, Jr.

William "W.D." Dewey Pence, Jr. passed away January 20, 2015 at his home in Tulsa. He was born May 16, 1928 in Nowata. He was raised in Nowata and attended school there. W.D. served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served on various aircraft carriers but spent most of his naval career on the "First" USS Dextrous. He married Louise Ida (Smotts-Perkey) on October 16, 1948. W.D. became a truck driver and worked most of his professional career for Smith's Transfer. He hauled appliances locally to several retailers in the Tulsa area.

W.D. was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, his son: Rickey Dean Pence, and his great-grandson: Derek Pence, Jr. He is survived by his daughter: Diana Sims; his grandchildren: Shana Schrimsher and husband Bobby, Derek Pence, Travis Sims, and Jeremy Pence; his great grandchildren: Bobby Jr., McKenzie, Dally, Eli, Corwyn, and Hailey.
