William (Bill) Charles Schaudt fought a good fight and finished the race on Tuesday evening, November 10, 2020, trading in his earthly body for his eternal attire.
Bill was born Sunday, January 24, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA to John George Schaudt and Catherine (Bumm) Schaudt. He attended Catholic schools and was a member of the 1961 graduating class from Father Judge High School. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965 as an aircraft mechanic. After his honorable discharge he obtained his Airframe and Powerplant license in November 1966. Bill was hired by American Airlines on August 28, 1967, thus starting his 40 + year career in the aviation industry. He began working midnight shift in Washington D.C. at both Dulles and National (now Ronald Reagan) airports.
During the Summer of 1963, on the sands of Rehoboth Beach, a blonde haired beauty from Wilmington, caught the eye of the blue-eyed boy from Philly and a romance of over 57 years began. Bill married the love of his life, Sandra Frances Dobson on Saturday, October 19, 1968. Three years later, Bill and Sandy started their family by welcoming their son, Stephen John on September 23, 1971, and completed their family almost 5 years later with the addition of Daniel Christopher on July 8, 1976. An opportunity for Bill to advance with American Airlines and better provide for his family brought the family to Oklahoma in October 1977.
Bill was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree from Thomas Edison State College and obtained his Master’s degree in Aviation Management from Oklahoma State University. Bill was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Bill enjoyed coaching his son, Steve and numerous other young boys that played on the Broken Arrow Braves throughout the 1980s. He thought the world of each one of them and often spoke of them over the years. Bill also was crew chief and lead mechanic during Dan’s Jet ski racing career.
Bill was a great friend and generous with his time and resources. He was such a blessing to so many throughout his life. Bill made a huge impact on so many lives and was a wonderful mentor and friend.
All through their lives, but more so during their retirement, Bill and Sandy enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren, making memories to last a lifetime. He will be missed by all.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Schaudt, and his brother-in-law, George Ditty.
He leaves many loving memories with his family, his wife, Sandy; his sons, Steve and Dan and wife Karie; his grandchildren, Amiee Aleese, Sydnie Lauren, William Scott “Will” and Shelbie Catherine; his sister, Claire Ditty; his niece, Sharon Colletti; his nephews, Jeff and Art Smith and Mike Ditty; as well as several other loving family members; along with his Christ Church family and many longtime friends.
