After a hard fought battle, William Carl Lee passed away on April 12, 2018, at the age of 35. He leaves behind his wife Stephanie and their three children Tasha, Garret, and Will.
Carl was born in Okmulgee on February 25, 1983 to Rocky and Susie Lee. He spent his years growing up with his younger brother Joseph, and his younger sister Tiffany. Carl graduated from Okmulgee High School in 2001. During his years there he was a tremendous athlete and qualified for state in wrestling all four years of his high school career, which led him to the opportunity of traveling to Australia to compete and represent the United States. Upon graduation, Carl went on to University of Oklahoma to play football for one year, and then transferred to ECU in Ada where he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in education. He later obtained his Master’s degree in Sports Administration also from ECU. He also obtained his secondary principal's certification. Carl was proud to be a Mason of the Freemasonry organization and a member of the Muskogee Creek tribe.
Carl began his football coaching career in Stratford and from there went on to Okmulgee, Metro Christian, Douglas, Hulbert, Locust Grove, Heavener, Ketchum, and came back to the place he loved most and called his home which was Okmulgee. Carl won 75% of his games as a head coach but more than just his record, he was extremely proud of the connections he made with his boys. Carl was a dedicated football coach who was driven by his love for the game. The determination of winning wasn’t the only thing that drove him but also the determination to have a positive influence in the lives of everyone around him.
Carl is proceeded in death by his brother, Joseph Lee; grandpa, William Carl Lee; grandma, Dora Dean Lee and husband LeLand Maunce Buck; all of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Carl leaves behind his loving wife, Stephanie Lee; sons, Garret Janway and William Lee; daughter, Tasha Janway and future son-in-law Chase Love, of Durant, OK; parents, Rocky and Susie Lee, of Okmulgee; sister, Tiffany, of Dallas, TX; grandparents, Ed and Kathern Gibson, of Hichita, OK; aunts and uncles, Dewey and Peggy Lee, of Brevard, NC, James Nelson Lee, of Okmulgee, Ike Lee, of Okmulgee, Pamela Correa, of Hichita, OK, Kathy and Bill Burney, of Hoffman, OK, Jeanee and Mark Jones, of Houston, TX, David Gibson, of Hichita, OK and Dewight Gibson, of Hichita, OK.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 15 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Schaudt's Funeral Service in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Carl Lee will be held on Monday, April 16 at 4:00 at Harmon Field.
