Wayne B. Parker was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma on August 27, 1934 at the Methodist Parsonage. He passed away November 4, 2015 at home of 16 plus years in Okmulgee County. His birth parents were Reverend Daris M. Parker and Mildred Littlefield Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, who raised him, Jenny Cooper Parker, his sister, Laura Bell Hearn; three brothers, Charles in Korea, Dale and Daris Jr. Parker; two sons, Dale P. Parker and Jon D. Parker.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Katherine Magby Parker of the home; son, Brian W. Bowles of the home; brother, Cooper Parker of OKC; two grandsons, John R. Parker and wife, Hannah of Atoka County and Daris Parker; two granddaughters, Sabra and Sophia and spouses; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Hooker High School in 1952, OCU and Garrett Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where he received his Masters of Divinity. He served churches in Oklahoma and New Mexico. He married the love of his life and retired to the country and his only real home in 1999.
His accomplishments were Debate: 1st in state for 3 years and numerous other firsts at Hooker; friend and counselor to numerous veterans over the years; ministered to 9 family members over the years; taught in the Literacy Program until retirement; active members of the Lions Club for 20 plus years; representative to the World Council of Churches in 1984 and a volunteer pastor to Harvard Avenue.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church at the Rose Chapel Reception and Parlor in Tulsa with Dr. Bill Tankersley and Guy Langston officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to the Sistema Tulsa or the Television Ministry at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church 1301 S. Boston Ave Tulsa, OK 74119.
