Funeral services for Wanda Dean Wilburn will be held at 11:00 AM, of Friday, July 21, 2023, at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel, 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Pastor Brandon McCombs officiating.
Wanda was born on November 18, 1930, to George and Allie Kirk of Peggs, Oklahoma, and was one of eight children. She passed away in Bixby, Oklahoma, on July 2, 2023, at the age of 92.
Wanda worked at all the popular theatres in downtown Tulsa, ending up at the Orpheum, where she had first me the love of her life, Johnny Wilburn. They would later meet again at Cain's Ballroom where they really hit it off. Both loved to dance and whenever they got going people would stop what they were doing, start clapping to the music and just stand and watch them dance. They later married on December 14, 1951, and had six children: Cynthia, Melinda, Brian, Lance, Grant, and Kerry.
Wanda loved being a housewife and mother to her six children, and always maintained a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to bowl in leagues with family and friends, watch old variety shows like Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, and Flip Wilson, and was quite a jokester herself. She also was the kindest person you could hope to meet.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Johnny; her youngest son Kerry; her parents George and Allie Kirk; and her siblings, Noble, Sarah, Chester, Nell, Stella, Beulah "Boots", and Jeanne.
Wanda leaves many loving memories along with her husband Johnny to children, Cynthia Terrell and husband Mark, Melinda Mahoney and husband Jack, Brian Wilburn and wife Glenda, Lance Wilburn and wife Dolores, Grant Wilburn and wife Lorelei. Grandchildren include Bart, Justin, Amanda, Heather, Kari, Lindsay, Channing, Chance, Heather, Caleb, Grant Jr., Annalei, Joshua, and Dillon, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren.
We know Johnny and Wanda are dancing together now in Heaven.
