Walter Thiry Jr.

Walter A. Thiry, Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully August 21, 2024. He was born May 1, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana to Lucille and Walter A. Thiry.

Walter served as Staff Sargent in the United States Airforce on the B-36 bomber (peacemaker) where he retired with honors. He then became Director of Membership Services with the AAA Auto Club of Oklahoma where he retired 35 years later. His passion was playing golf and when not playing you could find him marshaling at Battle Creek Golf Course. He was a member of the Jaycees and was involved in many community events like The Safety Patrol Work Shop, and Tulsa's Great Raft Race.

He was married to Janie Thiry for 67 years. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Janie, his parents, and two sisters, Margie and DeeDee. He is survived by his three children; Chris Thiry, Mark Thiry and Renee Thiry of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Shawn English of Tulsa, OKlahom and Misty (Jeff) Wilcox of Tallassee, Alabama and 8 great-grandchildren as well as manu nieces and nephews.
