Virginia Louise Asbury

July 31, 1925 — April 28, 2016

It is with a heavy heart that our family will mourn the loss of our beloved Virginia, who passed at the age of 90. Although we feel the pain of your exit of this world and into the next, we are at peace knowing that you will feel no more pain.

Virginia Louise (Sulphur) Asbury, Tulsa resident, formerly of Eufaula, died Thursday April 28, 2016.
She was born July 31, 1925 at the family home in Eufaula, OK to her parents, Andrew and Nora (Beaver) Sulphur. Virginia graduated high school and attended some college before entering the workforce. She worked as a bookkeeper and shop manager for the CO-OP store in Eufaula for many years.

She married Monroe Asbury and they had 5 children.
Virginia loved Bingo and watching sports, especially OU and Dallas Cowboy football games. She also enjoyed sewing.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; Andrew and Nora; husband, Monroe; son, Monroe "Sonny" Asbury, Jr.; brother, Sharkey Sulphur; sister, Jennie Canady; and granddaughter, Angela McIntosh.

She leaves many loving memories with her family, daughters, Mona McIntosh and partner Debbie Wood; Briz Brooks and husband, Ralph, Gilla American Horse and husband Dawson, Ginia Haskew and husband Joe; 12 grandchildren, Chaella, Stratton, Wesley, Lauren, Todd, Tara, Daniel, David, Lace, Josh, Ryan, Jessica; 10 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Arianna, Adrion, Kaileigh, Tommy, Ciara, Kiara, Rainey, Jace, Kaysen; 1 great-great grandchild, Ivonnie; sister, Marlene Arterberry; and many other loving family members.

Viewing and Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday May 5, 2016 at the West Eufaula Indian Baptist church, Pastor Tom Pickering will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula.

Casket bearers will be Todd McIntosh, David McIntosh, Daniel McIntosh, Wesley American Horse, Stratton Brooks, and Josh Haskew. Honorary bearers will be Ryan Haskew, Adrion Pyles, Jace McIntosh, and Tommy Mitchell.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service, 220 S. Alabama, Okmulgee, OK. Friends and family may leave condolences and view the obituary at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com
