Virgil “Bud” M. Harry, Jr., 91, died early Wednesday morning, April 11, 2018, with his loving wife and children by his side.
Bud was born October 30, 1926 in Ralston, Oklahoma to his parents, Virgil M. and Helen (Maxey) Harry.Bud graduated from Classen High School, where he was an All State basketball player. Upon graduating at the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and was sent over to the European theater as an Infantry replacement.Bud served under General Patton as a part of the 71st Infantry Division 5th Infantry Regiment 3rd Battalion. He was in Bastogne after it was taken and held by the 101st Airborne. Bud was awarded a Bronze Star during his enlistment.
After serving in WWII, he attended OSU, OCU and later OU Law School. He married Betty Storey in 1950 and practiced law for a short time before venturing into building houses for a few years. He later partnered with his brother and father and established Harry Mortgage Company. He was very passionate about the mortgage industry and was still involved in multi-family lending industry up until last year.
After Betty’s death in 2006, Bud married his wife Linda on February 23, 2009 in Las Vegas.
Bud was a jokester, who loved the one-liners. He enjoyed golf, traveling, especially taking cruises; his favorite place to visit was Barbados. He loved to go to Las Vegas with his wife Linda. Bud was an avid fan of OU, Cardinals, OKC Thunder, and PGA golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Harry, Sr., Helen Harry; first wife, Betty; brothers, Robert Harry, Owen Harry; and sister, Helen Parker.
Bud leaves many loving memories with his family; wife, Linda; daughter, Sally Langer and husband Charles; son, Virgil Harry; grandsons, Paul Langer, Joseph Langer and wife Madi, his favorite granddaughter, Sarah Langer, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 14, 2018 at Schaudt-Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel, with Reverend Amy Venable officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Ralston, Oklahoma with Military Honors provided by the Ft. Sill Funeral Honor Guard.
