Virgie Virginia Palmer, 80, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 19th, with her family by her side. She was born July 13, 1936 in Evant, Texas to Orion and Minnie (Bilbrey) Lester. In 1947, their family moved to Talala, Oklahoma. She was active on the high school volleyball and basketball teams and graduated from Talala High School.
Virgie met the love of her life, Jim Wilson, and the two have been in faithful, committed relationship since 2004. She loved to travel, work in her yard and hunt for hidden treasures with her metal detector. After selling her two Day Cares “GiGi’s Candyland” she traveled, and worked at Death Valley and Grand Canyon and later worked at American Airlines. She will be remembered as a loving mother, companion, friend and “GiGi”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orion and Minnie (Bilbrey) Lester; son, Johnny Gannaway; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her life companion, Jim Wilson of their home, children, David Wilson and wife, Sherry and Michelle Kennedy and husband, Rusty; sister, Audrie Robertson; grandchildren, Seth, Ethan, Cory, Chloe; and loyal companion, Spirit (puppy).
Viewing will be Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:30am on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Elder Don Wynn and Elder Jimmie Stripland officiating, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
