Vicki Stravlo Chapin

March 11, 1956 — February 7, 2024

Vicki Stravlo Chapin, 67, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, joined her beloved Jesus on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, after a valiant fight with complications from pneumonia. Many of her family and close friends were with her when she passed.

Vicki was born on March 11th, 1956, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from John Marshall High School, and went on to earn a BS in Languages and Linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington, DC., where she worked for Oklahoma Congressman Mickey Edwards. Vicki was also a paramedic, and had recently retired from a distinguished career as a life insurance agent and registered investment representative.

Vicki is survived by her faithful husband of thirty-four years, Warren F. Chapin, brother Peter (Peggy McGivern) Stravlo, stepmother Joyce Stravlo, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia McCroskey (Howard) Waller, and father Jimmie Earl Stravlo.

Vicki was a cancer survivor. In 1994, extremely risky brain surgery was canceled at the last moment in favor of intense chemotherapy and radiation. Though she was not expected to survive, and her recovery took over a year, Vicki’s faith and will never wavered. Her doctors cited her case in lectures and studies. Despite complications from the cancer, her faith and will carried her forward for 30 years.

Vicki was extremely generous with her love, wisdom, and time. Her honesty, sense of humor, strong will and feistiness were well known and loved. She was always willing to listen and help others, as shown by her fifteen years as a member and leader in Celebration Recovery, a Christian program dedicated to helping people overcome troubling behavior patterns.

Though greatly saddened by her passing, Vicki’s family and great cadre of friends know what they have gained by her love and friendship will be passed on for generations. Someone like Vicki does not die with the physical body. She was always ready to share her great faith in her savior Jesus Christ, and was a dedicated member of Regency Park Church of the Nazarene in Tulsa.

Vicki was a great lover of animals. In lieu of flowers, she requested everyone donate to the Tulsa Humane Society; https://www.tulsapets.com/ 918-495-3647.
