Ann Patterson

July 16, 1941 — March 3, 2025

Broken Arrow

Ann Mullen Patterson passed away at her home surrounded by her family on March 3, 2025 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and dementia.

She was born to Vernon and Frances Mullen in Muskogee, Oklahoma on July 16, 1941. She grew up in Tulsa with her younger sister, Martha “Marty” Corder (Jim), and was heavily involved with Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, where she had the opportunity to sing in the choir and participate in the bell choir. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1959. She then attended the University of Oklahoma followed by the University of Tulsa where she met the love of her life, John Patterson. They were married for 57 years and raised four children; Wade Patterson (Brenda), Rena Scott (Tom), and twins, Ryan Patterson (Donna) and Erin Selke (Greg). While raising her family, she became “mom” to many of her children’s friends and considered them part of her family. Years later, Ann was blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

While raising their family, she returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. She graduated from Tulsa Community College in 1982, and spent her career at Saint Francis Hospital and then Hillcrest Medical Center. After 16 years of providing attentive, compassionate care to her patients, she retired due to the progression of MS. During retirement Ann was known for her delicious cooking, detailed cross-stitching, expansive library, and her love for reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her oldest son, Wade.

Ann’s family would like to send special thanks to her devoted caregiver Heavenly Stinson, Pastor PG Goudeau, Mary Johnson, Kirk Rosenthal, Brant Fleming, as well as countless friends and colleagues who provided tremendous support and guidance which allowed us to honor our Mom’s wishes as she navigated her journey home.
