Valvert Franklin Hess passed away with loving family by his side on January 23, 2019, at the age of 77 years. He was born on February 14, 1941, in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, to his parents, Reverend Coy Hess and Ruby (Holmes) Hess. He was raised in a Christian home and was a 1960 graduate of Tulsa Central High school. He later married the love of his life, Pamela Kite.
Val graduated Tulsa Barber College and worked as a barber for several years before going to work as a Lather/Plaster for the remainder of his life, lovingly supporting his family while allowing Pamela to be a stay at home mom for the children. He had a passion for driving race cars and could be found at the Tulsa Speedway every Saturday night. His racing career spanned 17 years and was a huge part of his life with his wife and family heavily involved. Because of his love for his children, he gave up his racing career to coach their sports, with baseball being his favorite. After winning several city championships, he returned to racing but this time thru the support of his sons’ racing. Val was an avid OU fan with football being his favorite. He would sit and talk for hours about the game over the weekend or how OU was doing on the season. The only sports he enjoyed more were the ones his children and grandchildren were playing. He would attend all the games he could and was affectionately known as Papa.
Valvert leaves many loving memories with his family including: his loving wife Pamela Hess Kite; son Donnie Hess and wife Christi; daughter Valerie Naiman and husband Shawn; son Monte Hess and wife Lorie; a brother Dewey Hess and wife Mary Ann; a sister D’ann Yarbrough and husband Bill; a sister Sally Woods; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
