Tom was born December 11, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to George Hollingsworth and Sarah Elizabeth Scott Meason and died peacefully in his sleep on May 17, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the age of 10, his family moved from Dallas to Ardmore, Oklahoma. He graduated Ardmore High School in 1944 where he was Senior Class President and an All-State football player. He then attended the University of Oklahoma for the fall semester of 1944, where he played football. He joined the Navy in February of 1945 serving on the SS John Ericsson in the European Theater. After returning from the War, he went back to OU where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He married Elizabeth Leon Ferguson September 3, 1949. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1951. In 1951 he began working as a petroleum geologist for Ashland Oil in Oklahoma City. In 1953 he moved to Tulsa to join Delta Petroleum. In 1957 he began consulting and continued to do so until April of 2016. He was an aviator for many years, and was a member of the Grumman Tiger Club. He enjoyed many an adventure from Canada to Mexico and even made a run to Cuba to pick up some cigars. He also was an avid golfer and played for years at The Tulsa Country Club. He had a great sense of humor, loved engaging in thoughtful conversations, was a lifelong student, and was especially interested in science and history. He is survived by his four children: Tom, Marty, JoAnn and Holly, their spouses, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 10:00 am June 3, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
