Thomas Jordan Dorsey, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2015 in Tulsa, OK. He was born on August 28, 1930 to Thomas Jordan Dorsey, Sr. and Elizabeth Warner Dorsey in Baltimore, MD. He spent his early years in Annapolis, MD and graduated from Annapolis High School. Tom attended Western Maryland University and the University of Maryland where he was an All American lacrosse midfielder and played on the University of Maryland football team that played Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in 1954. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He coached football at Saint Mary’s High School in Annapolis and then coached lacrosse at the Naval Academy from 1959 to 1965 winning 6 straight National Championships.
In the mid-1960s Tom began a new journey in the State of Oklahoma. He began a successful insurance career starting his own independent agency in Tulsa. Tom met his wife, Darlene, who would become the love of his life for the next 40 years and together they made their home in Jenks, OK.
Tom loved sports and enjoyed coaching his sons Kevin in several sports in Maryland and Greg and Jeff in football and baseball in Oklahoma. He was instrumental in building the Jenks Quarterback Club in the early 1980s. He loved spending time with family, cooking (especially Maryland crab cakes) and his creamed chipped beef on toast aka SOS.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, sons, Kevin Dorsey (Anh), Greg Rinehart (Melissa), Jeff Dorsey, Ben Beeler (Veronica), whom Tom considered his own and one daughter, Karen (John) Turner. He has five grandsons Daniel, Stephen, Kevin, Ryker and Ramsey and three granddaughters Rachel, Mallory and Laurel.
