Thomas Edward York

Thomas Edward York was born March 8, 1944 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, son of Judge Leon J. and Audrey York. Thomas graduated from Oklahoma State University then continued to Tulsa University to receive his Juris Doctor Degree. He retired as an attorney from the Social Security Administration.

Thomas, known to most as "Big Tom" had one son, Tommy, who was born in Tulsa in 1982. Tommy will forever have a lifetime of incredible memories including traveling to Pikes Peak with his dad. Big Tom really enjoyed and looked forward to the annual Arkansas family reunions the last few summers. He will always be remembered for how he could crack jokes and bring laughter to Tommy, his friends and everyone around him.

You could always find Big Tom cheering on the OSU Cowboys - Go Pokes! He enjoyed listening to classical and oldies music, and loved the bag pipes because of his Scottish Heritage. Thomas was a great cook and created lots of family memories in the kitchen and around the BBQ grill.

Big Tom loved his family, especially his new grand-daughter, Olivia and loved to babysit his special "grand-pup", Bella. The holidays were very special to Tom, as he looked forward to having Tommy, Jessica and Bella over for the dinner. He would cook for everyone, and his Christmas tradition of "standing rib roast" will now go on with Tommy. Thanksgiving was beyond special this year as he spent the day holding his new granddaughter. Grandpa Tom had anxiously been awaiting her arrival!

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Judge Leon J. York, mother Audrey York and brother, Jerry York. He is survived by his son, Thomas "Tommy" Edward York, Jr. and wife, Jessica and granddaughter, Olivia, of Jenks, Oklahoma; two sisters, Marilyn Cross, of Wichita, KS and Carol McKnight, of Durham, NC; nieces and nephews: Karen and Michael Cohen of Denton, TX; Leslie and Richard English of Wichita, KS; Stacy and Kelly Maclaskey of Weatherford, TX; Bryan and Janet Evans of Houston, TX; Lynn McKnight of Durham, NC; Lisa and Mark Tipton of Searcy, AR, and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2016 both at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Dr., Tulsa, OK.
