Therese "Toni" Dickenson of Glenpool, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on November 15, 1950, and raised by parents Oscar and Pauline.
Raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Toni grew up in a household where hard work and dedication were valued-her father worked for American Airlines, and her mother was a nurse. She graduated from McClain High School and earned a degree in mathematics from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Toni built a successful career, spending over 20 years as a controller for Power Express before retiring after 22 years as an auditor for American Airlines, a company she was especially proud to be part of due to her father's long tenure there.
Beyond her professional life, Toni had a passion for arts and crafts, often gifting her handmade creations to friends and family. She loved swimming and was a lifeguard during her college years, later making it a routine to swim five days a week at the Bixby YMCA. She also enjoyed traveling, with her family to Branson, MO, and Eureka Springs, AR, being among her favorite destinations. They would go at least once or twice a year where we hit all the souvenir shops. One of her most cherished traditions was visiting Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs with her daughter twice a year, where they admired and supported the rescue efforts for big cats.
A devoted animal lover, Toni had a special place in her heart for cats. She always had feline companions in her home and never turned away a stray in need. At the time of her passing, she had three beloved cats that she cared for deeply.
A devoted mother, Toni worked tirelessly to provide her daughter with a Catholic education, ensuring she attended Catholic school and church every Sunday. She was deeply involved in her faith, volunteering at church and delivering communion to the sick. She was known for her honesty-never hesitating to speak her mind and always telling things as they were.
Toni had a love for murder mysteries, whether in books, movies, or TV shows. It was common to find her crafting while watching the latest crime drama.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her beloved daughter, Nikole Mauldin, and her husband, Brian; her granddaughters, Erica Dickenson and Olivia Mosley; and her great-grandchildren, Emily Mosley, Brooklyn Dickenson, Gracie Dickenson, and Sophia Le Dickenson. She is also survived by her younger sister, Johnna Ortega, and her four children-Peter, Paul, Mary, and John-as well as their families.
