Terry Lee Rawlings

May 19, 1950 — October 2, 2021

Terry L. Rawlings (better known as Rainman), 71, of Okmulgee, took his final motorcycle ride down life's highway on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Tulsa following a short illness.
He was born May 19, 1950, in Okmulgee to Paul and Joan Rawlings. He was quite the handful as the youngest boy.

He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1968 then served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972.

On October 6, 1977, he married Pamela Montague. She was the love of his life and they were married for 44 years. To this union, two daughters were born.

After his 4-year stint in the Navy, Terry returned to Okmulgee and graduated with a plumbing contractor degree from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. Upon graduating from OSUIT, Terry worked alongside his father, Paul, at Rawlings Plumbing. After the closure of Rawlings Plumbing, Terry worked for the City of Okmulgee for 20 years at the water treatment plant, including serving on the City Council from 1984-87, before retiring. Terry spent his remaining years watching birds, riding motorcycles, taking care of his family and loving his great grandchildren.

He was a dedicated, 20-plus-year, member of the Beggs chapter of the American Veterans Motorcycle Club. He considered the members his Brothers and loved them dearly. He participated in as many club events as he could, often riding his Harley even in the rain. The club gave him the nickname Rainman. They often said there was no rain until they met him on the road or he showed up.

A lover of animals, he spent a time rehabilitating injured wildlife. He has raised many birds from quail to chickens and turkeys and even ostriches. He loved 'his' grey squirrels and the groundhogs on his property. He spent hours standing at the window watching his birds. We often commented he spent more on birdfeed than he did on food for himself. He loved riding his motorcycle, and was a die-hard college football fan, especially the Oklahoma Sooners.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Gene Rawlings; one sister, Paula Morris; and son, James Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Rawlings, of Okmulgee; daughters, Katina Holland of Okmulgee and Tera Gallup and husband Chris; grandchildren, Ashley L. Howard, James Tyler Howard and wife Mikaelah, Paul Christian Gallup, Johnathan L. Howard, Andrew Levi Gallup, and Samuel Pepper Gallup; great grandchildren, Ava, Georgia, James Terry, and John Preacher; nephew, Charles Rawlings; nieces, LaDonna Martin and Nicole Morris; and many other relatives.

Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, at 5 p.m. at the VFW Post 1189 at 1427 N Oklahoma Ave in Okmulgee. There will also be a Halloween Party in his honor October 23 at 6 p.m. for those who may not be able to make it on the 8th.
