Susan Lynnette Symonds McCarty, 64, died peacefully at home on April 26, 2015, after losing her battle with breast cancer. She was born May 16, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Victor and Mildred Symonds. She graduated from Ozark Adventist Academy in Gentry, Arkansas in 1968, and attended Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, TX receiving her Associate's degree in Nursing in 1978. She furthered her education at Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS receiving her Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1989. Susan worked as a registered nurse for many years at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK, where she was known for her compassionate care, and wisdom. She was an avid gardener, an amazing southern cook, a certified scuba diver, a world traveler, an accomplished pianist, and a competitive ballroom dancer. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist church, and was actively involved in the Seekers Sunday School group.
Susan in survived by her two daughters: Julee Larmore Nave of Bartlesville, OK; Jennifer Larmore Palmer and her husband Greg, of Coweta, OK. Grandchildren: Thomas, Katy, Will, Lilyanna, Jolee, Ethan and Emily, and one great grand daughter Pyper. A sister Margaret Dewitt Of Corpus Christi, TX, and brother Victor Symonds, and his wife Betty Jo of Porterville, CA.
A Memorial celebration of her life will be held on May 16, 2015 from 1-3 pm at Schaudt-Teel funeral home at 5757 S. Memorial, Tulsa, OK. Susan loved good food, and a good bottle of wine, so bring a covered dish, and your favorite bottle of wine, and help us celebrate and remember this beautiful lady that we all will miss dearly.
