Susan Lee Campbell

September 13, 1943 — January 5, 2015

Susan Lee Campbell passed away Monday evening, January 5, 2015 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born September 13, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to George Robert and Nellie Lee (Topping) Wood. She grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated from Normandy High School. Susan married her husband Billy R. Campbell on June 6, 1964 at the Jennings Church of Christ in St. Louis. They just celebrated 50 wonderful years together.

Susan was known to be a selfless and self-sacrificing person. She had the most self giving spirit and attitude in life. She would always put others first.

Susan was a great knitter and became a professional knitting instructor. She made hats, shawls, blankets, and slippers. She specialized in making various children's clothing items. Susan established a very successful online retail business called Nellie's Knit Shoppe, which she named after her mother. She won many awards and prizes for her knitting and was a longtime member of the OSU Home Extension.

Susan loved to cook and always supported her children and grandchildren. She always attended their baseball and basketball games. Susan was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was also an accomplished pianist and organist. She assisted her husband Bill with her musical talent in every church they served throughout the years. They served together at Woodland Christian Church in Tulsa at the time of her passing. She will undoubtedly be missed by many friends and family members that cared for her deeply.

Susan is survived by her husband: Billy R. Campbell of Tulsa; her daughter: Linda Reif and husband Jim of Verdigris; her sons: Thom Campbell and wife Leslie of Frisco, Texas; Michael Campbell and wife Shara of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Daniel Campbell and wife Nina of Taipei City, Taiwan; and Matthew Campbell and his wife Nicole of Amarillo, Texas; her grandchildren: Chris and Erich Reif, Elly, Chloe, Cade, Reagan, Clark, Zanna, Lily, and Evie Campbell; and her brother: George Wood and his wife Shirley of St. Charles, Missouri.
