Stephen Dean Sanger, a lifetime resident of Okmulgee, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the age of 96. He was born Sunday, June 20, 1915 to Stephen and Viola Elizabeth (Alford) Sanger in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. On May 7, 1936, he married Evelyn Maybelle Williams in Bristow, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, the United Transportation Workers, AARP Local Chapter and the National Association of Railroad Workers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Sanger in 2009; parents; two brothers, Claude Sanger and Greg I. Sanger; four sisters, Juanita Sanger, Pauline Dodge, Opal Hensley and Emogine Klenc and great granddaughter, Ashleigh Schlegel. Survivors include his two sons, B. Dean Sanger and wife, Judy of Broken Arrow and David Fenton Sanger and wife, Judy of Oklahoma City; daughter, Karen Faye Coffman and husband, Curtis of Sand Springs; one brother-in-law, Chalmers Williams of Okmulgee; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee with Dr. Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Brett D. Sanger, Troy D. Sanger, Ryan C. Coffman, Tim A. Gilliland, David B. Sanger and Kirk A. Olson. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
