Stella Irene Rhoades

Stella Irene (Baker) Rhoades age 100 passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Sand Plum Assisted Living in Bixby, Oklahoma.

Stella was born January 13, 1914 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Jacob Baker and Rosa Lee (Bingham) Baker. She attended Haskell Public Schools and married Alva Pearl Rhoades on March 1, 1930. Stella worked as a housekeeper and was a lifetime member of Downtown Church of Christ in Bixby, Oklahoma.

Stella was a great cook and was known for her pies - her chocolate pies, apple pies and mincemeat. She loved making baby quilts for her grandchildren. She always remembered to send birthday cards and was noted for calling family members to check up on them to make sure they were in good health.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob and Rosa Lee Baker,
her husband, Alva, her two sons: Alva G. and Jimmie Lee and her daughter: Janie Sue, her three sisters: Geneva, Joann and Ethel and brother, Jacob Baker.

Stella is survived by her son, Jay C. Rhoades and his wife, Donna of Bartlesville, her son, Randal Rhoades and his wife, Janis of Rogers, Arkansas, her daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Jerry Calvert of Carrollton, Texas, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 12:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Funeral Service Chapel, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Downtown Church of Christ, 15802 S. Memorial Drive, Bixby, Oklahoma 74033. Mr. Fred Keas will officiate. Interment will follow at Duck Creek Cemetery, Liberty Mounds, Oklahoma.
