Shirley Lavon Smith of Eufaula Oklahoma, passed from this earth on April 5, 2025 at the age of 78 and was greeted at the gates of Heaven by Christ and her devoted husband Kenneth who had patiently waited 23 years for this reunion.
Born on July 21, 1946 in Vian, Oklahoma, Shirley graduated from Morris High School in 1964 and married Kenneth Smith that same year, sharing 38 wonderful years together before his passing.
Shirley worked alongside Kenneth for many years serving as a secretary in support of her husband's role as superintendent. She was also a dedicated coach's wife and scorekeeper and loved the game of basketball. Whether it be watching her daughters play, cheering on her favorite NBA team or showing us how she could still swish a set shot, she was an avid fan up until the time of her passing.
Shirley loved being at the lake and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends camping, boating, playing cards and enjoying her weekends on Lake Eufaula for many years until she eventually retired there from the Department of Human Services in Ada, OK, making it her permanent home.
Shirley leaves behind two daughters Kenna and Kendra and three cherished grandchildren Zac (Kelby), Kiarra and Nathaniel and a great-granddaughter Evie who were the loves of her life. To them, she was known as "Gramsy" and she always professed to "love them more". She is also survived by a younger brother and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth, mother Bonnie and five older siblings.
