Shirley Jean Cousens passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
Shirley was born September 30, 1943 to Olen and Doris (Schlieff) Anderson in Fort Smith, AR.
Shirley moved to Broken Arrow with her family at the age of five where she grew up. She graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1961. Shirley played clarinet in the Broken Arrow High School Band. She loved to snow ski all over Colorado with her family throughout her life.
Shirley married James B. Cousens, Sr. on February 11, 1978 in Little Rock, AR. Shirley and Jim operated several successful businesses together including Real Estate Professionals, Rainbow Builders, and the Trophy Case in Broken Arrow. She loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her husband, James B. Cousens Sr.; her father, Olen Anderson; her children: Tracey Hutchinson and husband, Ron; Darin Cousens and wife, Danelle, Kimberly Ketterman and husband, Bill, James B. Cousens Jr. and wife, Leslie, Eric G. Cousens, and John J. Cousens and wife, Nantha; grandchildren: Jamie, Chelsea, Kimberly, Dylan, Catrina, Derek, James III, Phoebe, Denim, John Jr. and Nyla; and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon Willhite and husband, David and her brother, Don Anderson and wife, Lou and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Chapel at the Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service in Tulsa. www.tulsafuneral.com.
