Shirley Marie Dunzweiler passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022.
Shirley was born in Pittsburg, KS on May 27, 1921. The family moved to Zanesville, OH where she graduated from Lash High School and also where she met her future husband, Jacques (Jack) Dunzweiler. Jack came into Shirley's father's business and asked her out for a date. The couple were married on February 2, 1946 in Ohio. They later moved to Tulsa in 1964 and spent 49 years together before Jack passed away in 1995.
Shirley earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1970. She taught at St. Pius X Catholic School in Tulsa for many years. She was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma on June 5, 2021.
Shirley was an avid reader, loved working puzzles and playing Canasta. She loved to dance and play the piano, particularly her favorite songs, Sentimental Journey and That's Amore!
In her 100 years, Shirley saw the world change in ways she never imagined; cars, airplanes, tv and technology. Not to mention The Great Depression, Dust Bowl, pandemics, wars, man on the moon, social security and 21 Presidents!
Shirley is survived by her children; Nan Gallagher of Tulsa, Jill MacMillan and husband John Nelson of San Diego, CA, and three grandchildren; Bryan MacMillan, Elliott Gallagher and wife, Ashley, and Dustin Gallagher and three great-granchildren.
