Sherry Gail Cooke, age 59, passed away on January 22, 2021. Sherry was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Walter Brant and Eula Faye (Coonrod) Brant.
Sherry was born with a best friend, her twin brother Terry. As infants the two appeared to have created their own twin language which they seemed to understand but no one else could. Sherry's paternal grandparents Frank and Emma Brant, homesteaded land that they claimed in the Oklahoma Land Run. Her and her family frequently camped at Lake Tenkiller in the 1970's; Sherry was quite talented and loved to swim and waterski.
Sherry was her high school class valedictorian, president of the Future Homemakers of America and a member of the cheerleading squad. She graduated from Gans High School and went on to attend Connors State College and graduated from Northeastern State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in education. She was also a member of the Church of Christ in Sallisaw.
She worked at the Grand Avenue Walmart for several years. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Sherry married Raymond Cooke who preceded her in death after being married for 15 years. Over the years she enjoyed traveling to many U.S. States, Canada and Mexico. Most recently Sherry and Ray had a special vacation to Hawaii. They were also fans of the Tulsa Oilers hockey team and attended several games annually over the last several years.
She loved to spend time with family and friends. She had an especially close relationship with her parents. Sherry had a great sense of humor and made up her own jokes from everyday situations. She was kind hearted and had a soft spot for dogs. She enjoyed working on creative crafts like sewing, crocheting and art projects.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Raymond Cooke and her parents Walter and Eula Faye Brant, and her brothers Frank W. Brant and Terry D. Brant.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her Brother Marvin Brant and wife Janie of Muldrow, sister Karen Hibdon and husband Glenn of Bixby, stepdaughter Courtney Brown of Manhatten, Kansas, stepnephew Brandon Cooke of California, niece Amy Matthews and husband Todd of Muldrow, nephews; Jason Brant and wife Ashley of Muldrow, Bevan Brant and wife Starr of Mountainberg, Arkansas, and Dakota Brant of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
