Sharon Elaine Parsons O’Dell, age 72, of Glenpool, OK passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK, due to complications from a heart attack suffered on Christmas morning. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde “Son” O’Dell, who passed away 3 months ago.
Born in Tulsa, OK on September 18, 1941, Sharon was the only daughter of William W. and H. Madrene Parsons. She attended Central High School in Tulsa, OK, graduating in 1959. Sharon married the love of her life, Clyde “Son” O’Dell on November 23, 1968.
Early in her career, Sharon was nurse at the former Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital. She later worked for many years at World Changers International and Bender Direct Mail in Tulsa. It was her last job as Lake Host for the US Army Corp of Engineers at Tall Chief Cove, Skiatook Lake that gave her the most joy. Sharon and Son loved living and working at the lake, it was their dream job.
Sharon loved to laugh & make others laugh. She was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother. She was a great sport and truly enjoyed talking with people. She was fun, funny, kind, caring and compassionate.
She is also preceded in death by her father, William Woodrow Parsons; mother, Harriett Madrene Parsons; brother, Robert E. Parsons.
She is survived by her brother - Bill (Liz) Parsons; son - Joe (Rita) Casey; daughter - Julie (Paul) Stanley; nieces Michelle, Kelly & Kristin Parsons; grandchildren - Justin Casey, MaKayla Casey, Katie Morgan, Sarah Normandia, Jade Casey, Jacob Stanley, Jordyn Stanley, & Joshua Stanley; great-grandchildren - Jaycen & Tanner Casey-Rose, Carter Morgan, Ava Morgan, Emma Normandia; grandnephews & nieces Chace, Cassie, Christopher & Carlee Cox, a host of cousins and her furry kids, Hannah & Gus.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Faith Fellowship Church in Collinsville, OK with Pastor Kelvin Limbocker officiating.
