The family of Seth Paul Bingaman would like to invite you to celebrate his going home, which occurred January 11, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, sons Brad (Connie) and Marc (fiancée Jenny) Bingaman, and daughter Brenda Jackson, plus four grandsons (Brandon, Tristan, Christopher, Jayden) and one granddaughter (Chelsea).
Paul was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Clarence P. Bingaman and Alice June (Baker) Bingaman on September 21, 1937. He had two half-brothers (deceased) and one half-sister. As a young man, Paul was an accomplished student/athlete. He loved to sing, and sang with different individuals and groups in both high school and college. He played basketball and football at Indiana State University where he earned an undergraduate degree in Science and a Master’s degree in Education. Paul was the first person in his family to graduate from college, and he continued to value education all his life.
Throughout Paul’s career, he taught Science, Physical Education and Driver’s Education. He coached Oklahoma football, Indiana basketball, cross country, golf, track and tennis. To this day, former students still comment on the powerful impact his mentorship had on them. This was enormously meaningful to him because he cared so much about the education and character development of his students.
Paul loved the outdoors. He loved growing vegetables in his garden, taking care of his yard and hanging out at the lake, where you could often see him tooling around in his prized golf cart! He made many dear friends, and always loved to joke around with everyone. Church meant so much to him, and he enjoyed both Faith Church and the weekly Sunday gatherings down at the lake.
You could not have a conversation with him where Jesus was not mentioned in some form or fashion. He always encouraged everyone to put God first, family second, occupation third and recreation fourth. He was a devoted husband to Linda, and always talked about what a truly kind and generous person she is. Paul loved his family so much, and was incredibly proud of all their achievements. But the fact that his entire family knows Jesus as their Lord and Savior gave him more pride and joy than anything else. It’s so wonderful to know that we will all be together again someday.
Faith Church (Highway 75 South, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033) will host Paul’s Memorial Service Saturday, January 17th at 4 p.m. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to either The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Association
