Scott Grant

January 12, 1955 — September 30, 2024

Scott Gregor Grant January 12, 1955- September 30, 2024

Scott Grant passed away in his sleep at his home in Tulsa Oklahoma in the very early morning of Monday September 30, 2024 at the age of 69. His family rejoices that he is in the presence of our Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Rondoni Grant, his children Daniel Grant, Celia Grant, and Corinne Grant, as well as his brother Jim Grant, and sisters Jennifer Sorensen and Patty Buch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Carolyn Grant, and his sisters Bunny Sorensen and Suzanne Grant.

Scott was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey the 5th of 6 children. He often expressed fond memories of living in River Forest, Illinois, as well as his years in Boy Scouts, especially camping trips and the Jamboree.

Scott worked for most of his career at Triad Systems Corporation in Livermore, California, and made many wonderful friends there, as well as later when he became a real estate broker in Austin, Texas.

His life was characterized by a great capacity for friendship and a spirit of encouragement. His sister-in-law Pamela Ascanio described Scott as "an enthusiast", which he indeed was- enthusiastically devoted to his wife Susan, enthusiastic about his family and friends, enthusiastically helping put together gatherings from church Crawfish Boils to his 60th birthday party for which he (accidentally?) invited over 100 of his closest friends.

After the progression of heart failure forced him to retire, Scott became a lay chaplain and served at Baylor Scott and White in Lakeway, Texas. He taught himself how to make artisan chocolates since he and Susan decided that everyone is happy to see you if you come bearing chocolates. Many encounters that started with chocolate, ended with prayer.

The grief of his family and the many people who loved Scott, who delighted in his enthusiasm, were touched by his encouragement and the grace of Christ expressed through him, is tempered by gratitude that God spared him the rough endgame of heart failure. We are so proud of him for letting the Lord refine him through all the challenges and that God used him to love on and care for others until the end.

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him." I Corinthians 2:9
