Sarah Jo Bennett

Sarah Jo McCuskey Bennett left this life peacefully August 30, 2014 surrounded by family.

Sarah Jo was born in Wynne, Arkansas, then resided in Miami, Oklahoma. She attended Ohio State University as a Music Major and taught music in school until she married Richard "Dick" Bennett in 1950, who preceded her in death in 2011.

She was very active in the United Methodist Church, worked with Girl Scouts, and taught piano lessons while she and Dick raised their 4 children in Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio. The entire family, and later Sarah Jo and Dick after the children were grown, were active hikers with the MetroParks System throughout their lives in Akron, Ohio.

She is survived by four children- Scott Bennett and wife Judy of Tulsa; Linda Bennett Schmidt of Denver; Nancy Bennett Torbert and husband Tim of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Gary Bennett and wife Kris of Columbus, Ohio.

Also 9 grandchildren- Kevin Bennett (Danielle) of Tulsa; Sarah Bennett of Tulsa; Emily Bennett of California; Merideth Glazier (Matt) of California; Liz Kimble of California; Katie Schmidt of Denver; Sam Bennett of Columbus, Ohio; Charlie Bennett of Columbus; Daniel Bennett of Columbus; sister Shirley Jackson and husband Carroll of Oklahoma City.

Memorial service is September 14th, 2014 at 12:30pm at the First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, 44221.
