Sandra Kay Mcferrin

Sandra Kay McFerrin, a longtime resident of Preston, Oklahoma, passed this life on February 11, 2019, at the age of 78. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1940 in Meadow, Texas to W.C. Kennedy Jr. and Ruby Erlene Kennedy.

She grew up in Andrews, Texas and attended school there. She married Walter Robert McFerrin Sr. “Mac” on October 11, 1957 in Andrews. She enjoyed many different aspects of life including traveling, square dancing and going to casinos with her husband. They traveled most of the United States together. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling with their friends to many places throughout the United States. Kay loved to sew square dance costumes and was involved in doing all types of crafts. In her later years she became the family genealogy expert, as she loved all aspects of finding the family history for her family and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her son Walter “Bob” McFerrin Jr. of Henryetta, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her husband Walter Robert McFerrin, Sr “Mac”, of the home, her daughter Sue Newnam, and son in law, Jeff, of Preston Oklahoma, daughter in law, Pamala McFerrin of Henryetta, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Riley Don Kennedy and wife, Judy of Brownfield, Texas, and Rodger Alan Kennedy and wife, Nan of Abilene, Texas. Close family includes granddaughters Tera Sue Carter and husband Brian, of Seminole, Oklahoma, Tonya Drawbaugh and husband Austin, of Preston, Oklahoma, grandson Justin McFerrin and wife Lacy, of Henryetta, Oklahoma. She had 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at Okmulgee Cemetery at 11:00. Celebration of Life will follow at Natura Baptist church at 12:00
