Samuel Thomas Carter, Jr. Samuel Thomas Carter, Jr., a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the age of 64. He was born on Friday, September 28, 1945 to Sam T. and Esther Rose (Young) Carter in Dyersburg, Tennessee. On October 31, 1986, he married Judy Crawford in Schulter, Oklahoma. He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Carter retired as a security guard with the Creek Nation Casino in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Esther Carter. Survivors include his wife, Judy Carter of the home; stepmother, Margorie Carter of Booneville, Mississippi; three daughters, Marvina Cole of Miami, Oklahoma, Rhonda Willis of Kansas and Terrie Ross and husband, Daniel of Billingsley, Alabama; one son, Samuel Thomas Carter, III and wife, Angel of Wagoner; two step-daughters, Ronda Clark of Okemah and Lynn Murphree of Broken Arrow; two step-sons, Phillip Crawford of Muskogee and Patrick Magner, Jr. of Eufaula; three sisters, Betty Rose Lothenore and husband, Millard of Booneville, Mississippi, Carol Williams and husband, Emmitt of Billingsley, Alabama and Cathy Carter of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, James Robert “Bob” Carter and wife, Martha of Belmont, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the New Covenant Tabernacle Church in Grayson, Oklahoma with Robert Lay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee.
