Sammie Darlene Blake

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we celebrate the life of Sammie Darlene Blake, who was born on December 31, 1951, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Sam and Juanita Lucas. She passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply.

Sammie was the beloved wife of James Blake, her soulmate and partner in adventure since their marriage on October 15, 2015. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sammie was the proud and devoted mother of James Justin Coatney (Kimberly Ann), Jennifer Fizer, and Desiree Blake. Her heart overflowed with pride and adoration for her grandchildren: Erica, Taylor Hartman, Alexandria Stanley (Tyler), Shay Fizer, Justice Fizer, Isaiah Fizer, Elijah Fizer, Joshua Fizer, Zachary Fizer, Jeremiah Fizer, Zoey Taalib, Tatiana Winter, and Maci Monroe. Her great-grandchildren, Olivia Hartman, Bentley Stanley, Kane Stanley, Jax Stanley, Emma Fizer, Everly, Aiden, and Sebastian Blake, were the light of her life and the greatest joy in her heart.

She is also survived by her brother, W.C. McBride, and countless cousins in Arkansas and New Mexico. Family meant everything to Sammie, and her love for them knew no bounds.

Sammie had a radiant spirit and a passion for adventure. She loved the freedom of the open road, especially on the back of a motorcycle, and was always ready to chase the horizon. Her soul was happiest surrounded by friends, laughing over lunch dates, shopping for treasures, and exploring beautiful destinations like Savannah, Georgia, and Niagara Falls. Her love for New Mexico was undeniable, and she dreamed of one day calling it home.

Her grandbabies were her world, and she never missed a chance to spoil them with love, hugs, and smiles. Sammie also enjoyed quiet moments, savoring Hallmark movies and true crime stories. She was always dreaming of her next adventure, her heart filled with wanderlust and excitement for life.

Sammie was a beacon of love, kindness, and forgiveness. Her generosity knew no limits, and her compassion touched everyone who knew her. She forgave easily and loved deeply. Her friendships lasted a lifetime, and she never let time or distance dim the bonds she shared with those she loved.

A celebration of Sammie’s beautiful life will be held on her birthday, Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Schaudt’s Funeral Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sammie Darlene Blake was a shining light in the lives of so many, and though our hearts are heavy, her love and laughter will live on in us forever. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, adventure, and boundless love that will continue to inspire us all.
