Sam B.Harjo

Sam (Snake) B.Harjo, a resident of Henryetta, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the age of 60. He was born on Saturday, May 21, 1949 to George and Christine (Brown) B.Harjo in Talihina, Oklahoma. Sam served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On March 17, 1969, he married Geneva (Harjo) in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and infant daughter. Survivors include his wife, Geneva B.Harjo of the home; three sons, Pahos B.Harjo and wife, Angelia of Sapulpa, Thomas B.Harjo of Okmulgee and Sam B.Harjo, Jr. and wife, Keri of Choctaw; three daughters, Jennifer Edwards and husband, Daniel of Broken Arrow, Marsha B.Harjo and Patrick Tom of Okmulgee and Sarah Gutierrez and husband, Jesse of Okmulgee; fifteen grandchildren, Alyssa Harley, Taylor Russell, Joseph B.Harjo, Nakoa Edwards, Trista B.Harjo, Christopher Edwards, Lillian B.Harjo, Michael B.Harjo, Nathan B.Harjo, Kei’Lei Edwards, Angel Gutierrez, Madison B.Harjo, Kiahna Gutierrez, Marah Sue Edwards and MaeKayla Sue B.Harjo; five brothers, Thomas Ahaisuee of OKC, Mody B.Harjo of Denver, CO, Marsey B.Harjo of Okmulgee, Manuel “Yogi” B.Harjo of Del City and Willie B.Harjo of Seminole; four sisters, Lucy K. Smith of Seminole, Nancy Fixico of Seminole, Sharon Proctor of Okmulgee and Sonja Larney of Shawnee and numerous nieces and nephews. Wake Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Wilson Community Center. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Wilson Community Center with Reverend Tim Coon and Newman Crowels officiating. Burial will follow the service at the B.Harjo Family Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Jeff Fixico, Ryan Smith, Timothy B.Harjo, George Proctor, Austin B.Harjo, Rayne Harjo, Stuart Corbin, Jerome Yazzie and Adam, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas Ahaisuee, Joseph B.Harjo, Christopher Edwards and Michael B.Harjo. Military Honors will be conducted by the Seminole Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Shurden Funeral Home in Henryetta.
