Sakinah Kosem

Sakinah Kosem passed away with loving family by her side Saturday evening, September 5, 2020, at the age of 59 years. Sakinah was born on March 18, 1961 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to her parents, Les Kosem and Natchiar Raguimane.

Sakinah lead an interesting life few will enjoy. Born a citizen of Cambodia and moved to Malaysia at 14 becoming a Malaysia citizen. Not knowing English she attended and graduated from an American international school. Later she moved to Australia with her family becoming an Australia citizen. After several years in Australia determining her life path she moved to Paris, France to study fashion graduating with honors (golden scissors). Sakinah married in France where she gave birth to Tarah and Boramy. In 2005 Sakinah moved back to Malaysia with her children to start her own fashion business which later became Intent Fashion.

Her love of fashion and clothing started at a young age, and ultimately became her passion and career. Sakinah was a hard-working, successful and well respected clothing designer in the fashion industry. She ran her successful Intent Fashion in Kuala Lumpur until her retirement in 2016.

She met the love of her life, Paul Sandberg in 2000. Although their paths did not cross again until a few years later, they were married on July 14, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sakinah renewed her passion for gardening, growing herbs and multiple varieties of chili peppers and flowers everywhere. She truly had a “green thumb” and spent hours in the garden. She was a very adventurous person, always up for trying new things, whether it was camping in the Badlands to star-gaze, mountain climbing in Colorado, parasailing or living on a boat. She enjoyed hosting parties for friends and colleagues and loved traveling with Paul.

Sakinah is preceded in death by Les Kosem (Father), Mohamed Kosem (Brother). Sakinah leaves many loving memories with her family, Paul Sandberg - husband, of Tulsa, her beautiful children Tarah and Boramy Unn of Sydney Australia ; 4 sisters and 4 brothers her mother Natchiar Raguimane along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

Sakinah was a special person who touched so many people’s lives; she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Celebration of Life service will be held September 17, 2020 7:00 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel.
