Ruth Kathleen Smithee age 82 passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at her Glenpool residence and was welcomed into heaven.
Ruth was born March 24, 1931 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Sheridan Eastham and Gladys Elizabeth Parker Eastham. Ruth’s family moved to Glenpool when she was in the third grade and she graduated as the Valedictorian with the class of 1948. Ruth was a charter member of First Baptist Church where she served as the clerk and historian for the church. She was a bookkeeper all of her adult life and had retired from Big 4 Foundries. Ruth enjoyed traveling, but most of all spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s: Herman Dalton Smithee and Carl Jeffery; her brother: Herb Eastham.
She is survived by her son; Daniel Smithee and his wife Beth of Glenpool, OK; her sisters: Norma Degraffenreid of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gayle Bridgeman and her husband Jack of Sperry, OK; her grandchildren: Christopher Smithee of Tulsa and Robin Phillips and her husband Jerald of Glenpool, OK ; her great grandchildren: Jalen and Jace Phillips of Glenpool, OK and Marittza Phillips of Miami, Fl., along with many close friends and acquaintances.
Pallbearers will be: Kenny Kizer, Iven Bell, Glenn Reed, John Reynolds, David Brandt, Ronnie Harris. Honorary Pallbearers are Wesley Taylor and Roy Johnson, John Cloud and Jalen & Jace Phillips.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Schaudt’s Funeral Service Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Main & Broadway. Reverend Jason Yarbrough and Reverend Ron Baker will officiate.
