Ruth Christine Cox

Ruth Christine Cox, a resident of Hanna, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the age of 81. She was born June 17, 1930 to Pete and Lula (Downing) Garner in Seminole, Oklahoma. On, July 5, 1946, she married J.D. Cox in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Hanna. Ruth enjoyed being outdoors, going to yard sales, farming and she was always on the go. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Lula Garner; husband, J.D. Cox in 1977; three brothers and her baby son, Terry Cox. Survivors include her five children, Justin Cox, Guftin Cox and his wife, Glenda, Delores Burleson and her husband, Don, Jaylon Cox and his wife, Kathy and Carolyn Spear and her husband, David, all of Hanna; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Assembly of God Church in Hanna with Reverend Gerald Kerns and Pastor Timothy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hanna Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Donald Wayne Berryhill, Billy Berryhill, James Berryhill, Cody Berryhill, Steven Kennedy, Jr. and Steven Kennedy, Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maxie Hammontree, Terrel Cox, Joe Bob Glover, Johnny Wayne Glover, Danny Burns and Randy Burns.
