Ruby Jane Workman

Ruby Jane Workman, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 94. She was born November 25, 1917 to Ed Myers and Menerva (Russell)Myers in Spiro, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Okmulgee for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Menerva Myers; three brothers; six sisters; husband, George Carter, Sr. and grandson, David Gordon. Survivors include her children, Alberta Emerson and husband,Jerry of Okmulgee, Betty Smith and Larry of Okmulgee, George Carter, Jr. and wife, Virginia of Stroud, Lucky Carter of Morris, Rebecca Looney and husband, Joe of Okmulgee and Mickey Howell and wife, Shawn of Morris; eighteen grandchildren; sixty-nine great and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee with Reverend Everett Lerch officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. The family will have a luncheon Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church on 1000 North Grand Ave in Okmulgee.
