Roy Spencer Starr

Roy Spencer Starr, a resident of Henryetta, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the age of 73. He was born May 12, 1938 to Roy H. and Esther (Rednose) Starr in Concho, Oklahoma. Roy served in the United States Army. On September 26, 1974, he married Allene Marie Starr in Henryetta. He was a farm and ranch manager for many years in Concho, Oklahoma. He worked as a Post Commander at the VFW in El Reno for about 10 years. He retired in 1993 in Henryetta because of health reason and he was a member of the Yardeka Indian Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous brothers and sisters and granddaughter, Alyssa Frank. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Allene Starr of the home; two daughters, Lesley Frank and husband, Warren of Okmulgee and Roylette Johnson of Kingfisher; two step-daughter, Delita Starr of Kingfisher and Karlita North of Moore; one sister, Dena Norwood of Kingfisher; grandchildren, Jalen Frank and Mykalia Frank and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Wake Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 23rd at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Yardeka Indian Baptist Church in Henryetta with Reverend Alfred Berryhill and Reverend Mitchell Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Yardeka Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Norman Frank, Jr., Brent Bruner, William Fixico, B.J. Fixico, Mark Kerby and Vince Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Reagan, James Starr, Shannon Starr, William Phillips, John Billie and Mark Kelley. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
