Ross Silvey

Ross Eugene Silvey was born on September 29, 1927 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Lou Juana Silvey of the home, four children, Sherri Lou Turner of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Debra Jean Shulman of Palm Springs, California, Jack Ross Silvey of Dallas, Texas, and Ross Owen Silvey of Austin, Texas, 8 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Owen Silvey and Blanche Green Stevens Silvey, and his only brother Jack Royden Silvey. Ross was an ordained minister in the Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church. He was also a long time Ford dealer in Okmulgee and Henryetta, Oklahoma. In 1971, he and his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he became a real estate broker and then a professor of business. In 2004 he moved to Austin, Texas where he taught business at Concordia University. Ross is remembered by his family as a loving, gracious and generous man, open hearted and kind. He loved to joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was totally devoted to his family. He continuously watched out for their welfare and lovingly provided for them. He will be buried in his family plot in Henryetta on Friday, February11th 2011. Visitation for Ross will be held on Thursday, February 10 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Services for Ross will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:00am at the First Christian Church of Henryetta. Pastor Kris Denning will officiate the service. Pallbearers for the service will be Alexander Lee Turner, Benjamin Allen Turner, David Turner, Jr., John Blue Star, Veronica Roberge, and Sarah Blue Star. Interment will follow the service at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home of Henryetta.
