Rose Mary (Larson) Bennett, born on April 26, 1935, in Corry, PA, to Bror and Ida Larson, peacefully departed this world on May 13, 2024, at the age of 89. She grew up in Corry, PA and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1952 as the class valedictorian, a testament to her intelligence and dedication to learning.
Rose Mary's life took a beautiful turn when she met her future husband at the roller skating rink after Mr. Bennett returned from the Korean War. Their love story blossomed, leading to a joyous union that lasted for 70 years. They were married on March 25, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where they pledged their love and commitment to each other in front of family and friends.
Professionally, Rose Mary excelled as a computer analyst at Erie County Plastics, dedicating 35 years of her life to her work before retiring in 1995. Her contributions were valued, and her work ethic served as an inspiration to many.
Rose Mary had a passion for travel and embarked on over 38 cruises, exploring different cultures and creating lasting memories along the way. She was also known for her culinary skills, particularly her Swedish pancakes and Sunday dinners featuring her famous fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and peas. Her homemade Lucia bread and her delicious pies were always a hit with family and friends.
Above all, Rose Mary will be remembered as a loving Mamma, Grammy, and Grandma who cherished spending time with her family, especially playing cards and creating cherished moments together.
Rose Mary is survived by her loving husband, James Bennett, her children James Bennett and wife Amy of Miami Beach, FL; Jon Bennett and wife Barb of Leominster, MA; Jane Colona of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Jill Bennett and her husband Grant Gerety of Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Christopher Colona and wife Ivonne, Stephanie Bennett, Jaclyn Infante and husband Armando, Erika Fiola and husband William, JC Bennett, Brittany Bennett, Chase Gerety, Zoey Bennett, and Skylar Bennett, as well as two great-grandchildren Joleigh and Caleb Fiola. She has many cousins that live in Sweden. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bror and Richard.
Rose Mary will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg, PA at a later date.
