Ronald Gene Ritter

Ronald Gene Ritter (Ron), 77, passed on to his eternal home Saturday, March 24th, 2018. He was surrounded by loved ones who held his hand and sang to him until he took his last breath and met his Savior.



Ron was born January 15th, 1941, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Bayless Arkley Ritter and Elsie Cathryn (James) Ritter. He was raised mostly in the Tulsa area (Glenpool) and for a short time in Illinois, where his father worked for Gulf Oil. Amidst the Vietnam War, he was drafted into the Army, where, upon completing Basic Training, he served in the Chemical Corp Battalion at Fort Lewis in Washington. He was never deployed and was honorably discharged in 1969.



Although they had known each other for many years before, Ron and his late wife Vicki began dating in 1996, married in January 1997, and remained faithful companions until she passed away in November 2014.



In March of 2016, after many invitations, his step-daughter Tonya and her husband Tom convinced Ron to move from Texas to their home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where out of deep respect and love, they took care of him until he changed addresses upon passing. While staying with them, he was active in church, volunteered at the Jenks Community Food Bank, and enjoyed going on outings with family. He was loved by everyone he knew and never met a stranger.



Ron was preceded in death by his wife Vicki Lynn (Hastings) Ritter, his brothers James, Thomas and Paul Ritter, his sister Betty (Ritter) Evans, and his parents.



Ron was survived by his brother David Ritter, his wife Sharon and their family; brother Jerry, his wife Ruth Ann and their family; step-daughter Tonya Parker and her husband Tom; step-son Dwayne Hastings and his family; and numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.
