Born in Cocoa Beach, Florida as the eldest child of Gene and Jerry Meeker, Ron passed from this Earth on August 21, 2015 at 70 years young. Devoted husband, beloved father and firefighter Captain, Ron will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49-plus years, Dianna Jean Meeker and two adoring daughters, Jennifer (Meeker) Kneafsey with her husband Mike, and Susan (Meeker) Buck with her husband Kevan. Ron had a special bond with his 10-year old granddaughter, Lilly Kneafsey, who nicknamed him ‘Bubba’. Other family members include his father, younger sister Vicki Costabile and her husband Jody, younger brother Dennis Meeker and his wife Cheryl, and their families, and mother-in-law Betty Winters. He was proceeded in death by his mother. During Ron’s recent cancer diagnosis, the family is most grateful for the team on 7 West at Saint Francis, who took impeccable care of him for three weeks and allowed him to walk his daughter down the aisle at a special wedding ceremony. They also appreciate the Clarehouse team for providing him peace.
Ron was a 1963 graduate of Central High School and a 26-year veteran of the Tulsa Fire Department. Ron’s favorite memories were any days spent at a beach or traveling with Dianna. He enjoyed playing poker with his regular buddies, trading cars – he owned more than 100 since he turned 16, playing the guitar, competing in a good tennis match, and chasing bargain deals with his best friend, John Martin.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Highland Park Christian Church in Tulsa. Friends are welcome to join the family for lunch at the church following the service.
