Ronald “Bagee” Butler, a resident of Coweta, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the age of 47. He was born July 19, 1964 to Roman and Juanita Ruth (Coser) Butler in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hartshorne High School and was a Jones Academy Alumni. He was an All-State football player, a State Champ Weight Lifter, member of the FFA, defensive captain on the state runner-up high school football team and played college football at East Central in Ada. He was a welder by trade and a member of the Pvkvn-Tallahassee Ceremonial Ground. He was an avid baseball and softball player and was a stomp dancer leader and he loved to sing Creek Hymns. Bagee was very proud of his grandchildren and he loved spending time with his family. He was a very jolly, outgoing, joking man and he made people laugh and would do anything for anyone. He believed in traditional and cultures ways. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Juanita Butler; grandparents and sisters, Ramona Butler and Carolyn Noriega. Survivors include his companion, Shirley Littlehead of the home; four children, B.J. Butler and wife, Holly of Okmulgee, Ashley Honey Butler of Coweta, Rebecca Butler of Coweta and Brent Butler of Bowlegs; one sister, Ruth Day and husband, Paul of Ponca City; three brothers, Roger D. Butler and wife, Marina of Bowlegs, Janseen Butler and wife, Mimi of Tulsa and Randall G. Butler of Okmulgee; grandchildren, Lillian and Brandon Butler and another grandbaby on the way and numerous other relatives. Visitation will begin Thursday, July 19th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Wake Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 20th at the Hanna Indian Community Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Hanna Indian Community Center in Hanna with Reverend Joe W. Bruner and Reverend J.R. Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hanna Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Waylan Gray, Sterlin Harjo, Buffalo Hill, Paul Day, Gannon Brown, Archie Simpson, Boycee Hill and Earl S. Howe IV. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Yargee, George Thompson, Chebon Cook, Stevie Yargee, Dunna Scott, Sonny Taryole,Felix Mack and Thomas Mack.
