Roger Lee Toomey

Roger Lee Toomey, 84, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Born in Chanute, Kansas to Bert and Beulah Toomey he lived most of his life in Chanute where he graduated from high school in 1947 and married Patti Clawson on March 19, 1955. Roger worked at the City of Chanute Power Plant for 43 years, and retired as the Plant Superintendent in 1991. He served as a cook in the army during the Korean War which resulted in a love for cooking that he enjoyed the rest of his life. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

Roger was a devoted and loving family man which was reflected in his favorite pastimes of camping and fishing with his family and friends. Roger was always there to help with household projects, or whatever else his family needed. In 2002, Roger and Patti moved to Sapulpa to be closer to their three daughters and their families, Debbie Dorris and husband Dean of Bartlesville, Joyce Sanseverino and husband Joe of Glenpool and Nancy Toomey and husband Ron Kroening of Sapulpa. Roger is also survived by his sister Doris, and brother Richard and his wife Joan. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald, but survived by Donald's wife Wilma. Grandchildren are Jeremy Dorris and wife Cheryl of Bartlesville, Adam Dorris and wife Rebekah of Bartlesville, Amy Hibbard and husband Michael of Lawton, and Jett Kroening of Sapulpa. Great grandchildren are William and Adeline Dorris of Bartlesville, Clark and June Dorris of Bartlesville, and Zoey Hibbard of Lawton. Roger is also survived by niece Beth Bunger and husband Terry of Salina Kansas, their son Alex and daughter Caitlin Postlewait and her husband Robert of Tulsa as well as many nieces and nephews. Roger will be greatly missed by his family and his dear little Scotty, Angus.

A private memorial service is scheduled.
