Rodger Blaine Wilson (62), of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on March 7, 2024, surrounded by family. Rodger, known a lot of the time, as "Rodger Dodger," was born to George Laroy Wilson and Reta Jo Wilson, on December 22, 1961, in Hanford, California. Rodger was a talented paint and hardware specialist, starting in his parents' ceramic business, Play n Clay, at the young age of 12. At the age of 18, he began working at a plumbing/hardware store while attending College of Sequoias in Visalia, California and Fresno State University in Fresno, California. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1984 at the age of 23, working as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist for a little over 5 years before being honorably discharged.
Rodger met the love of his life in 1992 while working at a paint factory in Woodlake, California. Christina and her 3 year old daughter, Virginia, joined the Wilson family two years later in May 1994 when Rodger and Christina were united in marriage. They welcomed their daughter Marina in 1997. Three years after unexpectedly losing both his wife, Christina and his mother, Reta, Rodger and Marina moved to the small town of Coquille, Oregon. While living in Oregon, Rodger spent the majority of his time raising his daughter Marina, enjoying fellowship at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Coquille, and specializing in paint and hardware at Farr's True Value. In 2018, Rodger moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to be closer to Marina and her husband Hayden. He remained in Stillwater for his last years, where he enjoyed his jobs at Lowe's in the paint department and in environmental services at Stillwater Medical Center. He continued to pursue his favorite hobbies that included smoking cigars, playing tennis, playing cards, and reading his bible.
Rodger is survived by his daughter Marina and her husband Hayden, stepdaughter Virginia, his sister Joy and her husband Jeff, and his sister Judy and her husband Steve. Rodger was preceded in death by his wife Christina, his parents Laroy and Reta, and brother Tim.
Rodger was known by most for his jovial humor, generosity and kind spirit. The moment he met someone, he cared for their wellbeing. He will be missed greatly by all who had the honor of knowing his kind heart. A celebration of life service will be held for Rodger on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2pm at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
