Roberta Jones

In loving memory of my dear mother, Ms. Roberta Jones, who passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2024 at the age of 70.

She was a loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and a loyal friend to many. She had a heart of gold and was always there to offer a listening ear or a helping hand to those in need. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.

Born on September 23rd, 1953 in Shreveport, La. Roberta was never married, but did have one child, Derric Lamond Jones, to whom she devoted her life and love. She raised him to be a man of God, and a faithful servant. Together they created countless memories that will be treasured forever!

Roberta graduated in 1971 from Southwood High School in Shreveport, La. She received a Bachelors of Science Business Administration & Education degree from Grambling State University. She received a Master of Science Educational, Instructional, and Curriculum Supervision degree from Oklahoma State University. She was employed with Tulsa Public Schools for more than 30 years, with more than half of those years as an administrator. She served as a recruiter, college and career advisor at Union public schools. She worked as a job developer for Project Hire with Tulsa Tech University. In her retirement, she acted as an Administrative Consultant. 

Roberta had a passion for giving of herself in service to others, and could often be found around town passing out food to the homeless, praying for people, and she definitely loved a bargain. She could be found shopping in the discount stores purchasing items, not only for herself, but because she loved giving she would always have a gift ready in advance for anyone who needed it! She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her warm smile and loving spirit could brighten even the darkest of days. She was a dedicated educator, and over the years had a major effect and impact on her many students’ lives. She volunteered her time to mentor, counsel, and pray for others. She was wise beyond her years. 

More than anything, she was faithful, and for her faithfulness she has been given eternal life, and a long drink of Salvation! The master is saying, “well done, good and faithful servant!” You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your master’s happiness!”

She is survived by her loving son, Derric LaMond Jones, her adoring grandchildren, Imani Rahshad Robinson, Hailey Savanna Lin, Elijah Sincere Jones, Jediah Lee Jones, and Mariah Alexandria Jones. Her siblings Blanche Buck, Brenda Todd, Patricia Hamilton, Willie Jones, David Jones, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.
