Roberta Ekstedt

E. Roberta Ekstedt, 85, Jenks resident, formerly of Claremore, passed away at Saint Francis Hospital on Thursday, May 12, 2016, with family by her side.

Roberta was born June 15, 1930 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Robert Otis and Mary Audra (Barnes) Short. She was a nurse for over twenty years working with Dr. Jerry Nelms in his practice.

She married the love of her life, Paul Albert Ekstedt on July 2, 1948 in Turley, Oklahoma. They enjoyed traveling together in their RV. While living in Claremore, Roberta was an active member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church. She also was very active in the Oklahoma Home Community Education (OHCE) Oowala Chapter.

Upon moving to Jenks, she attended Jenks First United Methodist Church with her daughter, Paula.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Short; husband, Paul Ekstedt (November 2009); daughters, Patsy Ekstedt (October 1950) and Jeanne Doerr (September 2002).

She leaves many loving memories with her family, daughters Paula Baker and husband Jim, of Jenks, Sandra Shane and husband Gary, of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Heather Morales and husband Javier of Odessa, TX, Rob Doerr and wife Crystal of Midland, TX, Jeff Doerr of Albuquerque, NM, Lauren Roy and husband Scott, of Inola, OK, Melisa Baker and husband Eric Ott, of Dover, NH, Jennifer Forthman and husband Tim, of Tehachapi, CA, Becky Shane, of Warrenville, IL; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Erica, Peyton, Liam, Nena, Lincoln, Emma, Caleb, and Maddie; as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday May 16, 2016 at Schaudt’s Glenpool Funeral Service, 719 East 141st Street, Glenpool.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday May 17, 2016 at Jenks First United Methodist Church, 415 East Main, Jenks, OK, with Pastor Rudy Freese officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor at Jenks United Methodist Church.
